Wedding flowers are a bit of a favourite for me. I love how flowers can bring everything together to form a perfect theme or an understated elegance. We have had the pleasure of providing flowers to some wonderful people this past wedding season. We have also had the pleasure of working with some wonderful local photographers who have made our flowers look quite wonderful.

I feel I haven't talked about flowers for a while. Flowers are high on my love list & I'm surrounded by them almost everyday, which I think I sometimes take for granted.

I love being a florist, the varieties colours & textures of the flowers we have available here in New Zealand is outstanding & a credit to our many growers spread throughout the country.I do like to keep myself updated on what is happening in the flower world overseas & have found some very like minded flower lovers. On my cyber travels I came across this beautiful florist in Brooklyn New York called SAIPUA have a look here .....

ObY has been horsing around abit (that's a bit corny I know) but check out these great cushions. Running with the trend of upcycling these lovely numbers are made out of tea towels.

If I had the choice I would be sitting at my sewing machine whipping up all sorts of delights 24/7, but alas, children, work, life take up 90% of my time. So for the 10% I have to sew I love to be inspired.

We have some new fabrics in store, which can only inspire, they are sooooo devine it's not funny.

Here's a peak The ECHINO range of fabrics are by the talented Japanese designer Etsuko Furuya. The colours & graphics in her designs are truly amazing. 55% linen 45% cotton, they are a lovely wieght & drape beautifully. Great for bag making, clothing or homewares (pictured "Bird Song").

KOKKA fabrics are fun & a little bit different. Beautiful weight (pictured "Little Red").

HEATHER ROSS far far away. A fairy tale world of colour & delight. The fabric is a beautifully soft 100% double gauze, perfect for clothing& quilting.

This is in addition to our mix of other gorgeous fabrics that are in store.

Winter is well & truly here. I can't believe how fast this year is going. We have some lovely hand knitted hats for the kids by knitter extrodinare Sheila. Very cute. There is also new designs in store from SEAM cushions, along with the ever popular wheaties which are sure to warm you up.

Here in Wellington we have some extremely talented people. In store we stock quite a few Wellington made items, which makes me so proud to be part of such a creative community.

We have cushions made from nz wool blankets, clothing from vintage fabrics, jewelery made using vintage buttons & beautiful clips to name a few.

A lot are enviromentally concious by upcycling the materials they use.

OOOoooo chocolate. When it comes to sweets this is it. I have discovered the best little chocolate makers in town. Bohemein is in Hataitai & are makers of the most divine smooth creamy delectable chocolate. We have now started stocking some of these treats in store to compliment your gift of flowers. They are beautifully presented in a contemporary white box with black ribbon with 2 sizes available. For Easter we have gorgeous Almond Praline milk & dark chocolate eggs $4 each.

MATCHBOX DOLLS

I remember as a girl making little dolls out of wooden pegs & little beds out of matchboxes, mine though never looked as good as these.

These little darlings are so so cute & beautifully made in bright colours & lovely pattern lined boxes with amazing detail.

GONE POSTAL

Local gal Carey has an obsession with stamps that goes back to her childhood. She also has a great eye when it comes to putting them together whether it be as a platter or on a block for the wall. These are works of art & so interesting, you see something different every time you look at them.

In store we have wall art, platters & treasure boxes.

HAPPY NEW YEAR. What a fun Christmas break we have all had. My family arrived on the doorstep of our friends farm up north for a week. We had a wonderful time especially the boys running around, moving calves, swimming in the river, collecting eggs & lots of horse riding.

Cathy went to Waiheke Island to visit family, Rachel to Taranaki, Vidette to the Manawatu.

it is always so special to spend time with family & friends without the pressures of work.

But alas we are back, but very much looking forward to 2010. We have started the year with lots of weddings. All different & beautiful.

We also have new things arriving daily from old favourites to some new & exciting products, which I will keep updated on the blog & web (I know, still have a few christmas things to change).
